FROM GLOBAL TO LOCAL
Goal 6 aims to ensure access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene for all by 2030. While progress is being made, billions still lack basic services, and water scarcity is worsening due to climate change, population growth, and rising demand.
Sustainable water management is essential for public health, food security, climate resilience, and ecosystem protection. To achieve this goal, we must invest in infrastructure, improve efficiency, protect water ecosystems, and promote inclusive, cross-sector collaboration.
Access to clean water is a human right, and urgent action is needed to make it a reality for everyone.

"My name is Abby Spengler, and I’m honored to serve as a Global Goals Ambassador for SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation.
I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and recently earned my degree in Environmental Engineering, with a minor in Science, Engineering, and Public Policy, from Ohio State University. I currently work as a Water Main Design Engineer at the Chicago Department of Water Management.
Clean water has been at the heart of both my studies and career. I've seen how water and sanitation systems can vary dramatically between communities, and how often they fall short or don’t exist at all. This drives my passion for advocating equitable access to safe water and sanitation, recognizing its ripple effect on public health, education, food security, and gender equality.
As an ambassador, I’m excited to raise awareness, share knowledge, and connect with others committed to building a more sustainable and just world."
