FROM GLOBAL TO LOCAL
Membership in the United Nations Association of the USA (UNA-USA) is open to any U.S. citizen or resident who shares a commitment to the mission and values of the United Nations. By joining, you become part of a powerful movement to inspire national action and help build a more just, peaceful, and sustainable world. Your membership is a meaningful way to show your support for the UN and stand with others who believe in global cooperation and human dignity.
Membership categories and benefits are outlined below. Please note that enrollment and renewals are processed through UNA-USA’s national office. Be sure to select “UNA Greater Chicago Chapter” or “IL – Chicago Chapter” when joining or renewing your membership to stay connected to our local efforts.
For assistance with new or renewed memberships, please contact Maya Moucharrafie at membership@unausa.org.
For questions about our local chapter, please reach out to Jeannette Barcelos Kravitz, our UNA-Chicago Director of Membership, at membership@unachicago.org.

Young Professionals (YP) is now the official membership category for all UNA-USA members ages 18–30. While youth under 26 previously received free membership, full YP membership now includes a $25 annual fee that directly reinvests in youth programming. The nominal fee supports activities and resources for youth members such as more stipends in the Delegate Fund to enable more young people to travel to UN conferences; a new Youth Programming Fund for both UNA-USA Community and Campus Chapters to apply for to support youth-oriented activities and programs at the local level; and resources to enable the national office to coordinate more career-oriented initiatives.
Eligible members should have received an email from the national office. Current YP-eligible members can claim a free year of membership if they register by September 1, 2025, using this registration form. Simply email membership@unausa.org with your full name to indicate interest in receiving your complimentary YP membership.
If you are a high school student between the ages of 14 and 17 and live in the U.S., you are eligible to register—for free—as a GenUN member, the official UNA-USA membership category for youth. GenUN members will continue to enjoy full membership benefits, including access to programs, events, leadership opportunities, and this members-only newsletter.
To maintain your member status, you must register by September 1, 2025 using this registration form. After that date, anyone who hasn’t registered will be recategorized as a Supporter, which means you’ll no longer receive full membership benefits—only limited updates like the UNA-USA Today publication and other opportunities open to the public.
