My name is Abby Spengler, and I am very excited to serve as a Global Goals Ambassador for Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation!

I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and recently graduated from Ohio State University with a bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering and a minor in Science, Engineering and Public Policy. I currently work as a Water Main Design Engineer in the Program Management Office at the Chicago Department of Water Management. 

SDG 6 has been central to both my academic journey and my professional work. I have learned how drinking water and sanitation systems operate in a variety of communities and contexts, but came to realize that many of these systems are either insufficient for the needs of the community or entirely non-existent. This is what sparked my passion for SDG 6. Water is essential not only for life itself but also sustainable growth and development. Without it, there can be impacts on public health, gender equality, education, food security, and so much more. Today, more than 2 billion people live without access to clean water. The need for action on this goal is urgent, and I am motivated to raise awareness and contribute to meaningful progress.

As a Global Goals Ambassador, I am looking forward to advocating for equitable access to clean water and sanitation, as well as connecting, collaborating, and learning from like-minded people who are passionate about making a difference in their community and in the world.
