The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is a plan of action for people, planet and prosperity.  It also seeks to strengthen universal peace in larger freedom.  The 193 member states of the United Nations ratified 17 global priorities for the next 15 years, 2016-2030.

This set of 17 global goals has been developed with strong U.S. leadership through the most consultative process the world has ever seen.  The U.S. held consultations in 50 cities across the nation that included elected officials, and business, faith-based, and civil society leaders.  Online, over 73,000 Americans engaged with the UN on the world they would want to see in 2030.

After extensive deliberation, Member states have focused on 17 goals that include 169 targets focused on ending poverty and hunger, improving health and education, advancing environmental and economic development.

The United Nations Association-USA Greater Chicago Chapter's GLOBAL GOALS AMBASSADOR PROGRAM offers individuals a fun and unique opportunity to learn more about the 17 Global Goals -- also called Sustainable Development Goals -- and become experts on a specific goal. You will then serve as a local ambassador for that specific Global Goal. Each Global Goal will have a team of 2-3 local ambassadors charged with educating themselves on their Goal and mobilizing others to take action on that Goal through additional outreach, education and advocacy efforts.
