In late June 2009, Human Rights Watch published a report documenting horrific human rights abuses by Zimbabwe's police and military in the Marange diamond mines. Tiseke Kasambala has covered Zimbabwe for Human Rights Watch since 2004 and is widely recognized as among the world's leading experts on Zimbabwe's blood diamonds. Using her timely, on-the-ground information, Tiseke has been pressing governments, the diamond industry, and international regulators to keep Zimbabwe from exporting Marange diamonds until abuses are addressed.

Human Rights Watch has launched an "Ask Before You Buy" campaign on blood diamonds. Join us to learn more.

Human Rights Watch is one of the world's leading independent organizations dedicated to defending and protecting human rights.
