IV. Brian shared his experience of participating in two conference calls with other YPIC chapters nationwide. He discussed what other chapters are doing in terms of programming and events, advertising these activities, attracting and maintaining membership, potential speaker resources, budgets/funding, etc. He also stated that UNA-USA has allocated a certain amount of funds to be distributed among the YPIC chapters around the nation, and urged us to put together an itemized budget for our chapter so that we can submit it to headquarters in order to receive some of these funds.
V. Daoud continued the discussion on ideas for future events and speakers for our chapter. Specifically, we discussed the following issues:
· U.N. fact sheet to be distributed at future events/meetings and posted on our webpage, which Juli graciously volunteered to produce
· Joining forces with Jackie Buckley, Chair of the Landmine Task Force, and her committee on a program focusing on Landmine Tour of Afghanistan partly using materials that Daoud will provide. Also, YPIC will discuss possible adoption of a landmine field in Afghanistan in cooperation with the Landmine Task Force.
· Instituting a monthly Ethnic Dinner Event focusing on a particular country
· Creating a database with present and potential members’ areas of expertise and interests so that they can be called upon or referred to for various programming initiatives
· Establishing contact information for individuals at the different schools in the city in order to develop a working relationship with them and their student bodies. Sarah has graciously volunteered to put together a list of area schools that we could target for future membership drives
· Creating an itemized budget for our chapter for programming, catering, advertising, etc. and submitting it to headquarters. Everyone is welcome to submit an itemized budget proposal with ideas for programming so that we can be considered for funding
